During Independent Reading, students may also elect to do other related activities. You may practice fluency by challenging yourself with the Automatic Word Lists, create familiar or new word words using the word part magnets. These come directly from the Word of the Day words reviewed daily in class and reinforce decoding skills in recognizing the different root words, prefixes, and suffixes that combine to create new or familiar words. Understanding the meaning of these word parts helps in understand unfamiliar words' meanings. The other station located at the back of the classroom is Magnetic Poetry.
