Monday Follow-Up

This week was the first time trying out the regular Monday routine in class. The goal is for everyone to feel comfortable with the independent tasks and for everyone to read with Mrs. C. during that class period. How close are we to reaching the goals? Check it out below:

PERCENTAGE OF EACH CLASS WHO READ WITH MRS. C.:
Period 1: 55%
Period 2: 64%
Period 3: 83%
Period 4: 64%
Period 5: 46%
Period 6: 82%

As everyone becomes more independent with the computer, this should improve. Can we get 100% next week?

The most challenging part of the day was commenting on the blog with difficult words from your story and a link with more information about your story's topic.

Out of 75 total students, 17 people posted a comment. That's 23%.
Out of those 17 students, 4 correctly followed the directions for how to "sign" the post. That's 24% of the students who commented, 5% of all students.

Let's talk about how to complete that part of the assignment. This was not something we had specifically practiced ahead of time, but now that everyone's had a chance to attempt it, let's discuss how to make it go more smoothly next week.

Now let's think about power. What power do you have over your reading skills with the Monday routine? Write your ideas on the exit slip from Mrs. C.
